Omnitek's new preflight solution ensures reliable data delivery by performing the necessary checks right at the client's computer, at the time of submission.

Preflight

Preflight was bourne of the idea that possible errors should be found before data delivery, by the client himself. The functionality of the early products, which tried to perform rule-based checks on the source data, now integrated into the mainstream layout applications, yet errors in the submitted documents are still at large. The problem is that no matter how perfect the source data is, PDF generation itself create errors which can only be detected with arcane software. This is the main reason why most of the preflight performed today is actually happening post-flight, when the data has been transferred to the printing house. In the lifecycle of an average print job, the press' prepress department is the first place, where properly configured, sophisticated PDF checking exists.

OmniTek's preflight solution attempts to get the delivery process back to the right track. It's configurable, rule-based mechanism filters out documents which will surely fail at the press, and corrects errors and makes the file more reliable, compact and robust. Only the printable, error-free files get uploaded to the service provider, saving bandwidth and other precious resources at both ends. OmniTek preflight is integrated into it's leading products, and is available as a standalone product, too.
